Woody's Home For Vets
Our Services Our Services Latest News

Woody's Home for Veterans is a non-profit Christian based adult residential facility for chronically mentally ill veterans.  Woody's Home began serving veterans in 2003 with the opening of our first home at 442 Jordan St. in Shreveport.  Woody's Home has remained at full occupancy for some time, and continues to have veterans on the waiting list through the VA medical center.  Although, other Community Residential Care facilities of this type do exist, the nearest is over 35 miles away and is therefore not an appropriate placement for residents with chronic medical conditions.  Much need has been detailed by both Sherry Williams LCSW, CRC Coordinator, and Dean Robinson M.D., Medical Director Psychiatric Services Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.  They anxiously await the opening of our second facility at 448 Jordan St.  Although much work has been completed, crucial home improvements have been on hold due to lack of resources.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of April Suttle. April devoted herself as Residential Care Coordinator to Woody's Home For Veterans for over four years. She was a loving wife, mother, and dear friend. She made a lasting impact to the health of many, many veterans and the veterans of Woody's Home. She will be dearly missed.
